Version 0.2.11

Download Kruftle

Free software under the GPL-3.0-or-later. No account, no licence key, no trial. Kruftle updates itself from these same releases afterwards, and never installs an update without asking.

Installers

Choose your platform

Every build is published on GitHub Releases with a SHA-256 checksum.

macOS

macOS 10.15 Catalina or later. One universal build for both Apple silicon and Intel.

Windows

Windows 10 or later. Installs per user by default — no administrator rights needed.

Linux

GTK 3 desktop, built on Ubuntu 22.04. The .deb needs libgtk-3-0, libblkid1 and liblzma5.

Every asset, for this and every earlier version, is on the GitHub releases page.

First launch

The builds are not code-signed yet

Code-signing certificates cost money that a free tool does not make, so each platform needs one extra step the first time. Nothing about this is unusual for an unsigned open-source app — and every release publishes a checksums.txt so you can verify exactly what you downloaded.

macOS

Drag Kruftle to Applications, then clear the quarantine flag Gatekeeper set when your browser downloaded it:

xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Kruftle.app

Windows

SmartScreen will offer to block the installer. Choose More info, then Run anyway.

Linux

The AppImage needs its executable bit; the .deb installs normally.

chmod +x Kruftle-0.2.11-x86_64.AppImage
./Kruftle-0.2.11-x86_64.AppImage

# or
sudo dpkg -i Kruftle-0.2.11-amd64.deb

Verifying a download

checksums.txt lists the SHA-256 of every asset in the release. The in-app updater refuses to install anything whose hash is not listed there, and you can do the same check by hand:

shasum -a 256 Kruftle-0.2.11-macos.dmg # macOS
sha256sum Kruftle-0.2.11-amd64.deb # Linux
certutil -hashfile Kruftle-0.2.11-windows-x64-setup.exe SHA256 # Windows

No administrator rights, and no toolchains required. Kruftle runs as you and touches only paths you could touch yourself. It uses whichever build tools you already have on your PATH; projects whose SDK is missing are flagged rather than assumed.

Building it yourself

Kruftle is a Flutter desktop app. The whole build is:

git clone https://github.com/dizitart/kruftle.git
cd kruftle
flutter pub get
flutter test
flutter run -d macos # or -d windows, -d linux
